If ever a home had reason to be haunted, the Lalaurie House does. Madam Lalaurie's dementia and cruelness to slaves was legendary. In secret rooms of the house, she would torture them relentlessly, keeping their naked bodies chained to the wall, in tiny cages, or on her operating tables. Her viciousness was seen in her acts; slave girls with their intestines wrapped around the outsides of their bodies, holes drilled in slave's heads, limbs removed, others broken and set incorrectly, and her whipping arm never tired of giving lashes.
Through the 1900's, phantoms of tortured slaves were reported. Often these images were accompanied by crying or whailing. The property has exchanged several hands throughout the years and no is reportedly owned by a physician who is restoring the building.
