Dangerfield Newby was killed in October 1859 possibly by a spike filled shotgun or some believe severely mutiliated. His body was disposed at Hog Alley where hogs ripped and fed on his body parts. He was involved in the altercation between John Brown and the Confederate Arsenal. His apparition is seen walking the streets in the area surrounding Hog Alley searching for his family so that he may free them.
