| Description: |
|
It is believed that the spirit of Father Costello walks the church. His role in issuing the last rites to several of John Brown's men seems to have affected him deeply. The building is also believed to be the burial ground for the amputated body parts of confederate soldiers. Also, on the steps one can sometimes hear the cries of a baby who was killed on the steps by a mortar shell during the Civil War.
An apparition of a priest is also often reported. Visiters will wave to him only to be ignored. The apparition then walks through the doorless wall of the building.
